GLOBAL COLLECTIVE MEDIA TRAINING RESIDENTIAL
From the 5 to 7 December, the Global Collective, a group of young people from around the country who help develop the Global Youth Action project, gathered in Cambridge for their last residential event of the year. Highlights of the event included the launch of the new-look Global Youth Action website www.globalyouthaction.org.uk and a new newsletter, '3C’, written by young people for young people about global issues and action. The weekend helped launch the Global Collective as the voice of Global Youth Action through some intensive media training. The group took part in training on dealing with the media, podcasting, newscasting and video activism from a number of experts, including the BBC's Mark Easton. You can see some of the results here... (see Freganism short and podcast - and more on the way)
The Collective presented some of the fantastic action they have been taking in their local groups and everyone pitched in with the catering and devising games and energisers. Global Collective members from Cambridge also treated everyone to a fantastic global fancy-dress party and a guided ‘World in Our City’ bus tour around Cambridge. Members were also given our new GYA t-shirts and received certificates to recognise all their great work over the last year.
